SUNDAY MARCH 11 2012

We gathered at Wes and Pam's.  There was a plan on what to discuss and sing but it seems the Holy Spirit had other things in mind for our time together.

Here are my notes:

-  discussed fear
-  We watched the video Johanna had sent back in February called "Fear is just a lie"
-  Wes shared a revelation he had the other morning about fear being based on what we don't know.  We would have no fear if we had full knowledge of a situation.  God knows all thus He has no fear for our situations we find ourselves in, He knows how it all turns out.


-  Lori read a chapter from the book "Your Church is too Safe"  by Mark Buchanan.  (I tried to link to it but my computer can't open the page.) (http://garyware.me/2012/02/20/two-chapters-from-mark-buchanans-new-book-your-church-is-too-safe/) (http://markbuchanan.net/2012/02/10/going-to-mordor/)
     -  this chapter discussed the comparisons of a disciple versus a follower and a travailer versus a tourist, and looked at missions and fellowship.

-  Teri asked the question - "What is the purpose of this group?" after listening to the chapter that Lori read. 
     -  Noah answered, "to do good things and talk about God."
     -  Wes shared this, "to strengthen and encourage one another so that when we go out into the world as individuals we can let His light shine through us."
     -  Paul shared these thoughts, "for support, to be in a safe place to discuss things out, for true friendship/family, trust and safety... so many things"
     -  Hebrews 10:23-25  --- "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near"
     -  What is our mission?  (Paul was afraid we were going to have to come up with a mission statement!  LOL)
     -  We discussed how Camp Stumpy allows us to reach out to others and provides a safe and restful place for others.

-  So we didn't discuss lesson two but that is okay.  :o)
