LESSON SIX --- NOT GUILTY

The lesson book has skipped chapter 7 of Romans but I encourage you to read it anyway.  A very encouraging portion in chapter 7 for me is the Apostle Paul’s “do-do” statements, how even he found it hard to want to do and actually do what is right.

But now on to lesson six … we are not guilty.

READ Romans Chapter 8.  (I myself have really enjoyed reading the lesson from The Message Bible.  Things seem more clear to me from it.)  (The Message can be found online at http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%208&version=MSG)

Think about a time you were “let off the hook” after you had been caught at doing something wrong.  How did you feel knowing you wouldn’t have to do the punishment for your wrong doing?

1.  Explain how the Law could not provide salvation.

2.  Who is unable to please God?  Why can’t they please him?

3.  In what ways does the Spirit of God transform people?

4.  How does a person attain true life?

5.  Explain what it means to live by the Spirit.

6.  How should believers deal with feelings of condemnation and guilt?

good because I no longer had to fear punishment

1) because the law provided a perfect standard and people are not perfect

2)the people living for the flesh Rom 8:7-8 they cannot please God because they are living in direct defiance of Him

3)it allows us to call God father Rom 8:16 and it makes us heirs 8:17

4)by accepting God's spirit

5) it means to live in accordance with what God has said

6) We apologize to the people concerned and then refuse to be held captive by it any more, each time we feel guilty for the action after it is resolved we need to refuse to beat our selves up over it because we are forgiven

1. Explain how the Law could not provide salvation.

Salvation through Faith, not law...
The law was not put to lead people, Faith was

2. Who is unable to please God? Why can’t they please him?

Every is unable to please God, however that doesn't mean every one does. And if you don't believe in god, then you don't believe your not unable to please him, so there's no worry.

3. In what ways does the Spirit of God transform people?

Depends on the person... Not all people are effected the same way.

4. How does a person attain true life?

idk...

5. Explain what it means to live by the Spirit.

Follow rules, that god made.

6. How should believers deal with feelings of condemnation and guilt?

Well, it's hard to say, it's different for all as usual. But, if you don't believe, it doesn't matter.
